What services does Dr. Doss provide?
Services available include initial telephone consultations, preschool and elementary school observations, complete diagnostic evaluations and speech therapy treatment and monitoring.
Dr. Doss has focused primarily on children aged 18-24 months through those in mid-elementary grades, with emphasis in speech, language and learning delays. She provides treatment for clients with receptive and expressive language disorders, pre-literacy and early reading and spelling delays, speech sound delays and phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), pragmatics and social language, fluency, and autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Doss notes that each child seen for services presents with a unique set of strengths and gifts and a one-of-a-kind personality, with differences in abilities to attend and focus, special interests (dinosaurs, Legos and baby dolls) and his or her special family environment with siblings and pets in addition to a potential speech, language or learning challenge.
She feels strongly that the family plays a significant role in the progress and successful outcomes for her clients. Consistent and ongoing practice, follow-up, and integration of new sounds, new concepts, and new skills — both informally (as highlighted during a book sharing activity at bedtime) and somewhat more formally (reviewing materials sent home in a binder) — is extremely important, because two or three 30-45 minute sessions each week make up such a small part of a child’s life.
Insurance
Exploring coverage and benefits for your specific health care plan is important so that you can make informed decisions about costs associated with services.

- deductibles and exclusions for speech therapy services differ among Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas policies.
- some Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas policies require policyholders to obtain pre-authorization for services prior to scheduling initial diagnostic sessions.
New Client Forms
Please visit our forms page, where you may download, print and complete new client forms, then mail them to or drop them off at the office at least one week prior to your initial consultation date.
Depending on the type of evaluation scheduled and the questions to be answered, Dr. Doss may provide additional forms for you.
Dr. Doss also routinely files claims with insurance companies, which will sometimes result in at least partial reimbursements for services, most often after deductibles have been met.
